i saw this in my files dated 2009.
We had a patient who was hit by a mini bus on his lower back. guess what. He was paralyzed from his waist to his lower extremities. He was worried about his prognosis. What is more sad is that he had a fiancé and that they were about to get married in the next month. The patient’s sister said that the fiancé doen’t know if she still likes her brother.
ASIA A is the classification of the paralysis of the patient and based on statitistics less than 10% of these patients have good prognosis.

I am hoping
Three and a half years ago, we were told that our idealism will fade away. Back then, I was extremely sure that I can get through med school without being dehumanized. But now, I am not so sure anymore. I am saddened by some of the goings-on in the hospital. I am dismayed that this has been the way of life in this hospital which is supposed to be practically, a home for the sick, the doctors and other professionals. Yet, I am still hoping that someday… maybe…just maybe… UPCM batch 2012 can make a change for the better. I am hoping, That’s a good thing, right?

a not-so-ordinary day in bambang
More than a month ago, my blockmates and I went to Bambang to buy stuff for our stash. I took the opportunity to inquire if there were stores that sell just the lens part of the ophthalmoscope. There were none however I was glad that someone named James said they can fix my scope but then I was not able to bring it that time. So, the guy. took out the shop’s calling card, wrote down his name, and said to look for him when I come back.
This morning I went to the same store and asked if there was someone named James. By the look on the saleslady’s face, I was waiting for her to say, “ay wala siya eh. Anong kailangan mo?” But no!!! Sabi niya… Ay nag-asawa na ‘yun! ATE naman!! Mukha ba akong naghahanap ng lalaki?! May asawa pa?! OMG!!

We were offered drinks 3 times. We were given blankets, pillows, slippers, a good snack (which is actually a full meal for dinner. yum!), and tom and jerry playing on the screen!
We don’t know why or how it happened. The flight attendant just said, “you are promoted! It’s a secret so don’t tell anybody.” hahahaha
the song i played on the stereo when i was allowed for the first time to drive in the city! that was six years ago and i can still remember the feeling… :)
